my first DYMO

Yes, I know. We already have quite a number of printers including a handheld labeller - Brother P-touch 1280, and a general thermal label printer - Brother QL-570 Label Printer. Both of those works great in different situations.

It turns out that I need another different size of label quite frequently. I could use the same Brother QL-570, and just change the labels inside. Except it won't work for us as the new type of label work The one like Brother QL-570. Except I need to put different type of labels. It is practically impossible for us to keep changing labels on a single Brother QL-570.

DYMO Label Writer 450 Twin Turbo

So I decided to get DYMO Label Writer 450 Twin Turbo in mid November last year. Firstly, to ensure a good supply of labels, I choose one of the main label printers. It appears to me that there are only two major brands in the markets - Brother and DYMO - rest are small enough to ignore for now. Next, I checked all the available labels, DYMO has the label size I want. So, a DYMO machine.

In DYMO's current offering, there aren't many options (for thermal labels). Naturally, the next step was to decide the model, then hunt for the cheap outlet to source from. Unlike our Don who lives in picturesque Quincy near beautiful Boston, Antony is poor, and Antony is a bargain hunter.

The 450 Twin Turbo means I can have one machine with two different types of labels without changing them. So, it's a perfect printer for Laurent and I.

Since I got this device in mid November, and I have printed more than 1000 mini multi-purpose labels (S0722530), I think I am qualified to give some sort review.
Is it good? Yes. It works with Mac well. In fact, I have it connect to an AirPort Extreme Base Station, so it is a network printer. The included application (DYMO Label) does the job, but I prefer to use Labels & Addresses from Belight Software.

Issues with this printer? It seems to have a larger unprintable margin (on one side only) than Brother's label printer.

BTW, if you are getting the Labels & Addresses from Belight, I would recommend get the Printfolio Bundle instead. Cheaper.

November 2012, and we just get to hear about it in March 2013? What gives, Antony?

Well, I've been slightly busy for the last few months. And there's no rush to mention the item. Even it is in use now, the protective film is still on top of it.
