iCloud finally

MobileMe to iCloud

I've been holding on Apple's MobileMe service for quite a while, and finally I moved to the free iCloud service. The main reason that caused me to stay with MobileMe was due to Yojimbo as mentioned in previous entry.

I had been a .Mac member since mid 2004. It was a paid subscription, I was happy with the service, so I continued to pay for the .Mac service. With the release of iPhone 3G, .Mac became MobileMe, so I continued to pay for the MobileMe until mid 2011 when Apple announced that MobileMe would be replaced with iCloud and at same time extending then MobileMe members free service until 30 June 2012, which is tomorrow. All MobileMe members must convert their MobileMe accounts to iCloud before 30 June 2012 to keep the account details and account names.

For the last few days, I've received daily reminders that MobileMe will end. Also BareBones sent me the detailed outline between Yojimbo and iCloud, I told myself, I really must make the move.

So I did. The move was pretty smooth. Except it did take quite a while since I've been a .Mac/MobileMe member for quite some time and I do have a few contents on Apple's servers.

MobileMe to iCloud

I know it's just a few days before the sunset date of MobileMe, but I did it. Although it's a bit sad that some nice features were no longer offered in iCloud, I understand that iCloud does provide greater syncing and pushing services between iOS devices and Macs.

Oh, unlike a certain Microsoft fanboy who rushed for early builds of Windows 8 (beta) and even flaunted his membership. I don't rush to move or upgrade. I do have a (paid) iOS developer membership, but I don't see the need to broadcast it.
