people are unbelievably low

Well, most of you should know that I am a good bargain hunter. While window shopping at Officeworks today, I noticed the toner cartridge (Brother TN-155BK) is on the bargain bin table, for half of the price.

The price was really attractive compared to regular price. It is the right toner for Brother MFC-9840CDW multifunction colour laser printer bought in later 2010. I, of course, know the exact toner number as I've ordered quite a few batches.

However, this heavily discounted item was a customer returned item. So I thought if it was only returned because of purchasing the wrong item, I can save the money. However, I told myself, I'd better be careful. The box felt a bit lighter than usual.

I spoke to a staff, he told me (from the label), it was returned as "unfit", shouldn't be used. And he was happy to open it up for me to check.

Up on inspection, the internal silver bag was opened, and it was clearly used. (Once you've replaced laser printer's toner cartridge for a few times, you can tell.) Then, the staff noticed that the actual toner cartridge inside was TN-150BK instead of TN-155BK. Those two toner cartridges (TN-150BK and TN-155BK) are interchangeable, except TN-150BK is lower capacity version (rated at 2,500 pages) model, while TN-155BK is of higher capacity version (rated at 5,000 pages).

Obviously, someone scammed Officeworks, returned a used toner cartridge (likely to be an empty one), not just that, also a low capacity version. Unbelievable!

As we all know, Sydney is not Don's beautiful Boston and picturesque Quincy where people are trustworthy and friendly. You have to be very careful in Sydney. Sydney is not a safe place like beautiful Boston and picturesque Quincy.

Oh, I always go for the high capacity cartridges. Except for one mistake in the past, I always go for genuine one now. Genuine toner and ink cartridges are not necessary more expensive if you shop around. I've found a number of occasions where third party cartridges cost more than genuine.

And the store was not low for trying to pass off a bogus item to some unsuspecting buyer?
That should have been discovered before the box ever went into the "bargain bin".

No, the staff did not have the proper knowledge to verify the package and the return.
