two trips to the Castle, just for pure water

Unfortunately, Sydney is not just pretty hot during summer, we don't have pure drinking water like Don's beautiful Boston's water. And it seems to me that getting some fresh pure drinking water is not that easy (unlike those in picturesque Quincy).

Cuisinart Water Filtration Unit

I've had two Sunbeam Brita Water Filter & Chiller systems. They worked fine until they broke down after the 1 year warranty period. After two of this Sunbeam products, I decided to switch brand. This time, I chose Cusinart's Water Filtration Unit (WCH-1500A)

A friend of mine had this model, so I decided to get the identical one. After all, she followed me to get, well, quite a few items... (Nespresso coffee machine, iPhone 3G, iPhone 4, iPad 2, and switched to Mac of course...) The exact brand and model has been decided, naturally, the next step is to hunt for the best deal. This is always my shopping style - decide the exact model first, then look for the best deal. Okay, Antony is poor.

Here's the story, it was not the issue of "best deal", but I couldn't find any retailers (carrying Cuisinart products) carry any of those Water Filters. (They all carry Cuisinart's ice cream makers, but that's another story.) I visited the store (Peter's of Kensington) where my friend got theirs from, you can't believe what happened. I received two big eyes after asking the shop assistant if they have any water dispensers. Fine, they don't understand the question, so I asked if they have any water filter which also chills water. I received two big eyes again. I simply can't believe the staff at Peter's of Kensington never heard/seen water dispensers.

Cuisinart Water Filtration Unit

So I called Cuisinart, apparently, hardly any retailers in NSW ordered their water filter machines, and the closest one I can try is Your Home Depot in Castle Hill. A bit far, but still in drivable range. Laurent and I went there in Sunday afternoon. Last Sunday to be precise.

We returned home late, and I followed the instructions, and set it all up. Somehow I couldn't switch it on. I read the whole manual again (i.e. RTFM again), I still can't switch it on. Bugger.

Two days later, I figured that it must be a faulty unit. I must be in bad luck. Which shouldn't be a surprise as I am not a white American living in beautiful Boston, hardly any lucky things come to me. So I made another trip back to the shop, and they gave me a replacement. I tested the unit there.

So, that's the story of the water filter and chilling system. Now, I can have easy access of filtered and chilled (or heated) water in the upstairs coffee room right next to my tiny office.

And the moral of this story: clean water is not easy to get here in Sydney.

Totally unnecessary!
Beautiful Sydney's water quality is world renown. The cost of the two trips, negates any price advantage you may have had.
Just like the grasshopper, you will come a cropper when you need money for something really important or necessary in the future.

It's a well known fact that Sydney does not have pure water like beautiful Boston.
