mobile WiFi with Telstra

Unlike Don's beautiful Boston, picturesque Quincy and reputable Rochester where free Wi-Fi is almost everywhere, here in Australia, there's hardly any free Wi-Fi available. And the pay-to-use public Wi-Fi is only available in a very selected areas.

Okay, the thing has been slightly improved, but only slightly. Free Wi-Fi hotspots are only in very limited places like McDonald's Restaurant, also some of my personal tests shown that even my own 3G speed is faster then those free Wi-Fi. Still, if you want the internet on the go, you will need to BYO, and better yet, go with Telstra for the real coverage in Australia.

Back in 2008, I joined a Vodafone Mobile Broadband, then in 2009, I got Telstra's PrePaid Wireless Broadband and started to realise the coverage is very important and that I should have signed with Telstra instead. And the following year, my Vodafone's contract ended, and I decided to leave Vodafone. And last week, I decided to upgrade Telstra's PrePaid Wireless Broadband to Elite Pre-Paid Mobile Wi-Fi:
Elite Pre-Paid Mobile WiFi

Why do I stay with Telstra? Simple. Coverage is way more important than the rate. It is true that Vodafone/3 and Optus/Virgin provide better rate (quota) than Telstra's similar offering, but Australia is not Don's great United States of America, a number of places are still with no mobile phone signals, and Telstra still has the best coverage in Australia when you travel out of town.

Telstra Prepaid Mobile Broadband and Elite Pre-Paid Mobile Wi-Fi

Perhaps, I shall provide a justify for upgrading my Telstra Prepaid Wireless Broadband to this new device.
As usual, the old PrePaid Wireless Broadband was somehow outdated. It does not support the newer faster speed, and requires special software (installed on the computer) and uses a USB port. Since the new Telstra Elite Pre-Paid Mobile Wi-Fi supports the current fast 3G mobile broadband at up to 8Mbps in speed (the new 4G LTE network was just out, and still expensive), and it is a portable Wi-Fi, which can benefit multiple devices at the same time, including iPod touch or MacBook Air.

Elite Pre-Paid Mobile WiFi

Although getting this exciting mobile Wi-Fi broadband device from Telstra, it does not mean that my next iPad would be non-3G version. Simply, a built-in 3G makes the life very convenient.

Pretty insightful publish. Never believed that it was this simple after all. I had spent a good deal of my time looking for someone to explain this subject clearly and you’re the only one that ever did that. Keep it up
