new GPS navigation: TomTom

Many of you may remember that I won a GPS navigating device in May 2008, a Navman S30.

The Navman S30 still works. Except the map is outdated, and it's old. Laurent and I decided that it is time for a new GPS navigating device.

Unlike the hunt for the new home phone system, this GPS navigating device did not take me that long to search for. Only a few trips to different stores (for the best bargain of course), and made up my mind, and decided to go for TomTom Go Live 825 (Australian version).

TomTom Go Live 825

The specs? Pretty much today's standard with 5.0-inch 16:9 LCD display, 244 grams, and 2GB internal flash memory with SD slot for expansion.

After some actual road usage, it was really a right decision. Without a doubt, it is much faster, and much more responsive. The guiding (of the route) is much better than the old GPS, as well as telling me which lane to use. The screen is easier to view, and very useful traffic feature (as well as automatically adjusting routes for the fastest route).

After all, this TomTom Go Live 825 was a great upgrade to the aging Navman S30.

to Don: Antony is poor.

What did Einstein say? "We use only 10% of our brain's capacity." With all your gadgets, you surely use less!!
You need memory, not TomTom etc!

You can blame the roads in Australia aren't logically and nicely designed as in beautiful Boston. Also, there are places where there's no bus to follow. (Sometimes, you don't know which bus to follow.)
Thank you for the Apple news, I just heard of it earlier.
