need new drum

I simply can't believe how much Laurent and I print. For our everyday documents, we use laser printer to print them. As a matter of fact, we use two laser printers, one is mono-laser (Brother MFC-8890DW, bought in early 2010) and the other one is colour-laser (Brother MFC-9840CDW, bought in late 2010). Since both printers have auto-duplex (double sided printing), we try our best to be green and print on double-side whenever possible.

Brother MFC-9840CDW and Brother MFC-8890DW

Somehow, I receive a message from the 9840CDW printer (the colour one) saying that I need to replace the drum.

The drum of the Brother MFC-9840CDW is rated for 17,000 pages. I quickly get the information from the colour printer. Despite, it was purchased later then mono model, we did go through two sets of high-capacity toners (plus the included low capacity ones). We have printed 16,143 pages on the still relatively new colour laser printer, and the system shows 6% of life remaining.

An order for the new drum has been made. As you probably aware, Antony is a great bargain hunter - he compares the prices. Instead of getting the drum from Officeworks, he ordered one online, and saves him more than $100.

(As a safe measure, a backup set of toners (C, M, Y, K) have also been ordered.)

If Antony was a smart bargain hunter, he could have got office works to price-beat the online price by a further 5%....just sayin'
