a case

How could you have a camera without a case? So there's one for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX5 bought in early December.

Sony LTS TWE

Speaking about a compact camera, the Sony DSC-TX5 is really a great one. Pretty easy to use, and the Auto mode (intelligent mode they call it) is pretty accurate. It is true that you can't get some DSLR qualities, however, it is extremely compact and easy to use.

Since I am not an extremist, I don't demand the narrow DOF (depth of field) effect all the time.

Don't worry Don, the invisibleSHIELD has been installed before I let Laurent use the camera. Also, the camera pouch was bought with discounts.

You even bought a Sony-branded case for your Sony-branded camera? You really do worship brand names.

It is a suitable case for the camera. As usual, you paid too much attention to the brand names.

Other manufacturers than your beloved Sony make camera cases for your camera. In fact, you're the one that paid too much attention to the brand names.

I saw a case that suits the camera, and that case happens to be from the the same company. You are paying way too much attention to the brand names.

The thing is, we all know you play favorites when it comes to brand names.
Posted by Don_HH2K on 11 January 2011 1:53 AM.
Unlike, I don't intentionally avoid certain brands.

Those certain brand names are "intentionally avoided" due to things such as vertical integration, which you love.

It's about products and accessories matched and working harmonically. Unlike you, I don't intentionally mix up all different brands just to show the world that you are a geek.

Harmonically? Wow, you really are oversubscribed to brand names.
It is not to show the world that I am a geek. Committing to a standard, rather than a brand name, means that you can build a perfectly workable and cost-effective solution out of whichever brands have the best deal, in terms of both quality and price.

It just a case, you don't really need to pay that much attention to the brand of that case, you know.
What I said stand correct, a Sony camera with a Sony case for the camera match nicely (harmonically). I am not going to carry a Sony camera in a totally unmatched case.

I don't see what difference it would make, so long as the device is in a case as you intended for. UNLIKE you, I don't care about the look, and hence can save money and/or get products that don't all come from the same brand name.

Other brand case is not necessary cheaper. In other words, intentionally choosing a different brand case is likely to cost me more.
Getting a right case is not just about providing the features, also must be strong and reliable. I do not intent to use a cheap or free case and to have the camera dropped.
Posted by Antony on 20 January 2011 10:28 PM.
Then, obviously, you are not shopping around very well, as brand-name accessories typically cost more.
So you are saying that a non-Sony case is not strong and reliable?
Posted by Don_HH2K on 21 January 2011 1:43 AM.
You obviously do not know the price of this Sony case, it costs less than $20 if you must known. A similar non-Sony case can cost $40+ easily.
I do not intend to use some sort of super-cheap or freebie from non-well known sources which might result the dropping of camera.
Posted by Antony on 21 January 2011 2:00 AM.
So you only looked at the expensive non-Sony cases, I take it. Or considered that the cheap Sony case must be good quality just because of the name "Sony".
Just so you know, back when my 11-year-old camera still actually worked, I carried it on a strap around my neck - no need for a case.

Almost all my friends (sans you) know that the quality can be easily judged by (1) price tag or (2) brand name. A brand represents the quality and a lot of other things.
