Happy New Year 2011

Happy New Year everybody.

Well, I slept a little bit longer than expected this morning, thanks to this iPhone alarm bug.

Anyhow, here is the video of New Year's Eve Fireworks in Adelaide I took last night on my CHEAP iPhone 4.

movie: NYE 2010 Fireworks (Adelaide)
(Click the screen shot above to watch the video clip, 12 minutes 34 seconds)

The video is re-sized for easier web viewing, more below.

Happy New Year everybody.

The clock in Adelaide is half and hour behind Sydney, and at Sydney's fireworks, Laurent and I watched the live Sydney's fireworks on my iPhone 4! Thanks to EyeTV (application on my Mac Pro) and EyeTV (iPhone app), as well as Telstra's NextG network. Yep, unlike the high tech Don, we watched Sydney's NYE Fireworks captured (live) on my EyeTV Diversity connected to Mac Pro, and transmitted to my iPhone 4 (with EyeTV app).

The NYE Fireworks in Adelaide were not as massive as Sydney's, it is about the same length - 12 minutes.

Well, unlike Don, I don't own a proper video camcorder. I had to resort to my CHEAP iPhone 4. (to Don: Antony is poor.)

Sorry Don, I am unable to upload the original version as the original video is shoot in H.264 codec in 1280 x 720 pixels 24 frams per second. However, file size is over 1GB.

Happy New Year!
Just for comparison, your new expensive iPhone shoots 720p video at 24fps. My 19-year-old full camcorder only shoots 480i (to Antony: ANALOG and INTERLACED on ancient VHS tapes), and my cheap 6-year-old phone only shoots 240p video at 15fps.

My iPhone 4 is last year's model. My iPhone 4 does not have zooming while shooting video. My iPhone 4 only does mono recording.
Facts remain: Your full camcorder can do more than iPhone 4 in video shooting, and has better video quality. (Since I just posted one above.)

Only last year's model? Wow! That's plenty newer than 19-year-old or 6-year-old models.
You're sure about "better video quality"? VHS quality is pretty bad by the standards of today's digital world.

IPhone 4 was released last year, not new. Aren't you the one that hates digital format or anything digital (from music to video to video signal and more)? Unless it is Microsoft codec.

I know for a fact I've never, ever said that, nor is it true even by loose interpretation.

Let's recall...
You hate LCD or LED monitors, you demand CRT monitor because it is analogue. You also much prefer VGA connection. You hate the popular AAC encoding, and you hate the industrial standard h.264 standard, but much much prefer Microsoft's video codex...

Let's see, in that order... False, false, true, false, false, and false. I don't hate LCD/LED monitors, I don't demand a CRT because it's analog, I prefer VGA because it's the de-facto standard and readily available (to Antony: NOT because it's analog), I don't hate AAC but prefer MP3 because it's again the de-facto standard, I don't hate H.264, and I don't always prefer Microsoft's video codec, since H.264 is better in some situations whereas VC-1 is better in others.
Of course, you decided to blatantly lie and/or blow my views out of proportion, since it's all an "of course" thing about me to you.

DVI is a newer standard.
Let's put it in simply way. You demand the best technology except the one that has been endorsed by Apple. You would get the latest or newest or best technology (e.g. best compression (at any cost), strongest encryption, and even the latest OS). Clearly, despite that it is well agreed that AAC does a better compression and better quality (at same bit rate), you refuse AAC because you immediately link it to Apple.

Big deal if DVI is newer, all the monitors I own are still VGA, as are almost all projectors and monitors I use while out. Same reason I use MP3 over AAC - it's about compatibility, not "Apple".
Furthermore, please back up your above quotes, where I use best compression regardless of cost (I most commonly use 7-zip / LZMA which is in many cases even faster than gzip on x64), strongest encryption (my backups use Twofish, as it's much faster than AES), and the latest OS (I never got an OS anywhere near launch day, like you've done with the past three or four OS X launches). I can't think of any examples where I demanded those, other than ones where you decided to, as I said earlier, blatantly lie and/or blow my views out of proportion.

DVI means no lost in information and preserves better quality. Of course, it is a big deal (to people who demands the best).
AAC is pretty compatibility everywhere nowadays, even my non-Apple HTC Touch Pro2 and Laurent's Nokia 6700 slide.
Didn't you tell me that you use the most powerful compression method with very high CPU resource?
As for the OS, you have the very expensive and very advanced Windows Vista Ultimate and then Windows Seven Professional. The Mac OS X was relatively very very cheap.
Isn't Twofish better than AES? Hence, you demand the best possibly.
