world's best prison, in Boston

Boston is, without a doubt, an amazing place. Not just being beautiful (hence beautiful Boston) and high tech, there are also a number of amazing things there.

To my surprise, the famous Charles Street Jail in Boston now has televisions in each room!

BTW, the prison is now known as Liberty Hotel.

Known as the Charles Street Jail in the 1800's, this iconic prison, which was once hailed as the international standard for prison architecture, was transformed into a hotel in the 1990's. It was initially designed in the shape of a cross, with granite walls, a rotunda, large windows and 220 cells in 4 wings, but became overcrowded, dirty, and was forced to close.

Now, eighteen of the Liberty Hotel's rooms are built in the original jail - with the mod-con additions of televisions and linen, of course.

Whether I did or didn't, that merited a blog post? Or was this just another "Don has life so much better" thing?

Well, I was amazed on how nice the prison in Boston is. I don't have to write "Antony is poor" in every blog entries, right?

I believe it is a city lock-up rather than a prison Ant.
Prisons are generally not in the down-town area with swish hotels as neighbours!

Well, the famous (okay, not as famous as Boston one) Fremantle Prison (in WA) is in sort of city centre, as well as all sorts of markets near by.
