a Don approved iMac (Intel Core i5)

Yes, it arrived today, finally. Except it is not mine. Like Rev. Dr. Wu Yi got his new iMac, Laurent received his new iMac today as well. Okay, Laurent's iMac was ordered before Rev. Dr. Wu Yi's, but we decided to customise the build and it takes additional time for it to arrival.

So, here's the important box shot:
iMac (3.60 GHz, Intel Core i5)

(as usual, more photos follow...)

Don should be happy that this iMac is Don-approved specification. A while back when I ask for recommendation on replacing Laurent's computer, Don suggested that I should pick only the 21.5-inch and Intel Core i5 processor for Laurent, and I did.

Since Antony is a good bargain hunter, I used the one day only sale (known as Black Friday Sale in Don's America) to order this iMac.

Well, the box is beautiful. (Rev. Dr. Wu Yi knows that.)

iMac (3.60 GHz, Intel Core i5)

The specs:
iMac (3.60 GHz, Intel Core i5)

iMac (3.60 GHz, Intel Core i5, About This Mac)21.5-inch LED 16:9 screen
3.60GHz Intel Core i5 (customised-to-build)
4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM (2 x 2GB, I might upgrade that later)
1TB Serial ATA Drive
ATI Radeon HD 5670 512MB GDDR3 SDRAM
8x double-layer SuperDrive
Apple Wireless Keyboard and Mighty Mouse

The important thing about Laurent getting this iMac is that I can have my over 6.5-year-old PowerBook (12-inch, G4, 1.33GHz) back.

My good old 12-inch PowerBook G4 is still working perfectly fine, except the speed isn't up to today's standard as well as it being a PowerPC processor. Laurent has been using it for the last few years since his PC died.

File transferring and settings migrating to Laurent's iMac was pretty quick.

This is Laurent's first Mac! Congratulations.

Hooray for Pepe. I am pleased that a techno-dullard such as myself got my iMac first...LOL!! Hope he enjoys.

He bought his iMac one or two days before you, if you want to know. Except I followed Don's recommendation on getting the Intel Core i5 in 21.5-inch (therefore must customise it).
BTW, you need an AirPort Extreme Base Station.

"BTW, you need an AirPort Extreme Base Station."
What in the world for?

The best device to provide internet connection everywhere in your home, including the playground of late Tom.
Even better yet, a Time Capsule would have all above functions as well as a perfect rewind back solution for your iMac.

None of that makes any sense, as I have a desk top not a's just all techno-babble as you have nothing better to say!!

Well, sooner or later, there will be many other devices that requires WiFi connection.

It's Laurent's Mac - why is my name in the title?

Haven't you heard of "It's Don. It's Good."? (If not, Rev. Dr. Wu Yi can tell you that.)
Well, the key thing was... the iMac is to the specification Don approved.

No, I've never heard anything concerning "It's Don. It's good."
Who cares if I "approved" of it or not? It's Laurent's, not mine.

DON, it is an advertising campaign for a meat smallgoods manufacturer in Australia. The company name is DON and they use an actor with an Eastern European accent, his only line being, "Is Don, is good!"
It has fallen into colloquial usage, to assure someone of the quality, or "rightness", of something.

I quite literally laughed when I read that, Rev. Dr. It'd be one of the more interesting alternative uses of my name that I've seen, up there with "Don Vito". (The others are typically bland, like "Donald Duck" or "Ronald McDonald".)

Sorry, it is "Is Don, Is Good" (not "it't"). Well, you have to forgive my poor English ability.
