a trip to Taronga Zoo

After weeks of raining or cloudy days, we had a nice sunny day yesterday. Laurent and I spent the day in Taronga Zoo. Thanks to the free tickets from Bing Lee. (Bing Lee gave us a free Taronga Zoo pass and animal experience (i.e. touching animals) as part of their promotions when buying air conditioners from them.)

I did not take as many photos as last time, and here are some:

A partridge NOT in a pear tree. Sorry not the gift from the true love on the first day of Christmas.
Chukar Partridge

(as usual, more photos follow...)

A Red Whiskered Bulbul. I have no idea what a Bulbul is.

A Peakin Robin:

And a peacock, fighting with a peacock in the mirror.

So, how do I bring Don into this blog entry which seemingly has nothing relating to Don? Easy, here it goes:
Unlike the lucky Don in beautiful Boston/picturesque Quincy and reputable Rochester with lots of high-tech entertainment options, the poor Antony had to go out and visited the zoo for something different. Since the poor Antony's life is not as colourful as Don's.

Well, of course you know that a Bulbul is a bird silly, you showed a picture of one!
It's one of the common avian creatures around Sydney, recognisable because of its little pointed black hat. I like them.
BTW, with the cost of an entry ticket to Taronga Zoo being as high as it is these days, poor people are unable to visit. A family of four would be hard pushed to get in under $A100, excluding parking and food!

I meant I've never heard of the word Bulbul.
Well, Sydney is not beautiful Boston, what do you expect? A family of two adults and two kids would cost AU$128 to get in, plus parking etc.
If you were lucky enough to live in beautiful Boston like Don, the admission for a family of two adults and two kids would cost only US$44 (to visit the world famous Franklin Park Zoo).

I'm almost certain that Franklin Park Zoo isn't world-class.

Still, Franklin Park Zoo is very affordable for families to spend a day there, compared to Sydney's Taronga Zoo.

Taronga Zoo is world-class, it's only natural that they would charge more for admission. Plus, according to Wikipedia, Taronga Zoo has 120 more species of animals than Franklin Park Zoo.

Taronga Zoo is world-class? I did not even know that. 120 more species in Taronga Zoo? I couldn't even find any pigs there.
