my thoughts on the Apple Special Event

Firstly, sorry for lack of new entries recently. I've been pretty busy these days.

Of course, I watched Apple Special Event (September 1, 2010) yesterday. My thoughts? It has been a long way for iTunes! It really has.

I was using Winamp back in late 90s (to Don: Yes, Antony is old.) and early 2000s for my digital music (mp3) playing. Until mid 2003 when I got my first Mac (to Don: it was a secondhand Power Mac G4 400.).
Back in late 2003, a good friend of mine once was very excited to tell me that she discovered an exciting Windows application - Real Player - which does music playback and can listen to online radio etc. I showed her the iTunes, she downloaded it, and was immediately sold to iTunes. (to Don's dismay: she later switched to Mac, got an iPod nano, an iPhone 3G, a few AirPort Express base stations, and switched her coffee machine to a Nespresso coffee machine.) Since then, iTunes, Mac, and pretty all sort of Apple products have become part of our topics.

As for me, (to Don's dismay) all my music are organised by iTunes, of course.

As for yesterday's Apple Special Event?
The new iPod shuffle has returned to the right size. The previous model is somehow a bit too small in my opinion. The new iPod nano is now a tad too small. It is now wearable (can click on clothing), but I guess people want to hold it instead. The new iPod touch is really attractive, making me wanting to get one, perhaps as a gift item.

I've been thinking about getting an Apple TV for quite a while, however, I've been telling myself that I should wait for the second generation. Now the second generation is announced, it's about time to get one. Perhaps, I shall get an TiVo as well.

Other news from the Special Event: Steve Jobs said that iOS 4.1 will fix the performance of iPhone 3G, and I am waiting for that. iOS 4.2 will have printing feature many people have been waiting for, it will be available in November for iPad and some iPod touch and some iPhone models.

iTunes 10 comes with Ping social networking feature, well, call me outdated, I am not that into social networking.

To conclude this entry: to Don: Antony is poor.
