let there be more light
Unlike Don who has a nice bright and spacious office, I have been suffering lack of proper lighting in my office for almost a month.
The problem? The main lighting (pictured below) has been flicking for a while, then one day, I couldn't turn on the light at all. I thought the light bulb was dead, I changed it, no help. I, therefore, was forced to rely on a insufficient desk lamp until I got the new lighting fitted.
I've never been a big fan of (incandescent) light bulbs. I always prefer the fluorescent lighting, for the office at least. Unlike the high class Don enjoy the nice mood created from elegant lighting, I don't mind the office/business feeling of fluorescent lighting.
Since the new light bulb did not work (same old problem), I decided to change the original light fitting completely. Getting the ugly office like fluorescent lighting. Getting the lighting changed is somehow complicated. I have to go to the light shop to get the light set, then find a licensed electrician to fit it.
Getting a light set and finding an electrician aren't that difficult, the problem was, Laurent and I have been pretty busy recently. Hence the monthly long suffering of low lighting in the office.
Finally, we got an electrician here today. He installed the new lighting as well as repairing a number of other parts (to Don: this house is OLD.) Well, getting an electrician is not cheap. (to Don: Antony is poor.)
So here's the new light, 2 x 36W fluorescent tubes in a diffused batten.
Why did I get the long (36W) version instead of more popular 18W version? Well? Since I am looking for more lighting, why not getting more?
Isn't my tiny office a bit too small for such big light? It's a bit bright, but I am sure it will be fine. (My office is smaller than Don's control-room-like office, we measured and compared.)
My office is now really bright. It's good to have a bright room.
According to the packaging, 2 x 36W fluorescent tubes produces the same amount of light as 8 x 60W incandescent light bulbs. (to Don: Antony is poor he saves energy.)
