expensive art boards

I already know that I am poor (and Don refuses to accept that still), but there are times I still have to buy items that are expensive.

Last week, I bought 3 art boards (80cm by 60cm each) among other art supplies from Dymocks Stationery. Those art boards turned out to be pretty useful and strong. And because of their good use, I decided to get another 5 art boards (in different colours).

Since I have been cutting quite a fair bit, I decided to get a cutting mat at the same time, a pretty large one A1 size (about 90x60 cm, or in Don's American units: 36" x 24") Cutting directly on the table is a very bad idea, probably Don would disagree on this. The A2 version (about 60x45 cm) of the cutting mat is bit cheaper, but not by much.

I've been printing photos with A3 printer (Epson 1410) I bought last year, with genuine Epson ink of course and Epson Premium Presentation Paper (formally Epson Matte Paper-Heavyweight). Good paper improves the printing quality dramatically.

The main reason I got those art boards is that I am too cheap to have my photos framed by professional. (to Don: Antony is poor.) So I decided to follow Don's D.I.Y.-style with art boards. Cutting them the way I want. and putting the photo print outs myself.

Speaking about paper, Epson Premium Presentation Paper is not the top grade paper among other Epson papers (4 stars rating, according to Epson). Unlike Don, I am very content with second best.

Art boards aren't cheap. What do you expect, this is not beautiful Boston. Each art board (80x60 cm) costs $15.95 (AUD, inclusive of GST). As for the A1 cutting mat, I don't think you want to know the price tag. This concludes the fact that Antony is poor.

And a final word about printing (I believe I am qualified to say some since I have quite a few printers): If you want good colour output, get a good inkjet printer with 6 or more colour inks, and most importantly, use good quality paper.
