it's an AT&T. (HTC Touch Pro2)

AT&T

Last week, I received my cheap mobile phone, and (to Don's dismay) it's an AT&T phone. Don't worry, my old iPhone 3G is still my primary mobile phone.

TelstraNext GI have been hunting for a second mobile phone, as we need a secondary one to handle (diverted) phone calls. For that particular purpose, the phone has to be under Telstra's much wider coverage network - Next G. Since I was looking for a second handset, I decided why not getting a smartphone instead. For that particular purpose, I decided to look for a phone that is not Apple iPhone. So here it is, an AT&T branded HTC Tilt2 smart phone. (AT&T Tilt2 is better known as HTC Touch Pro2 in other carriers.)

(as usual, more photos follow...)

It is not the Nokia N900 smart phone Don approved.

The main reason that I got an AT&T phone was that it runs the same 850MHz as Telstra's Next G frequency (on 3G band). And the AT&T Tilt2 turns out to be much cheaper than an HTC Touch Pro2 with Next G frequency here. So I followed Don's style, ordering it from eBay from Don's America.

Here are more photos, sorry for some finger prints on the phone. I forgot to clean them off before photos.

So there is the phone. Still in its protective film. I will remove it once I receive the invisibleSHIELD for it.

Of course I ordered the invisibleSHIELD. I shall receive the invisibleSHIELD for iPad before I get my iPad.

Another reason I choose HTC Touch Pro2 (HTC Tilt2) is that it comes with rather large keypad. Keypad does have its advantage over touch screen in some situations.

So, here it is. A cheap smart phone for use as secondary phone.

Comparing HTC Touch Pro2 to iPhone 3G? Well, it's a bit heavier than iPhone 3G, and the touch screen is not as responsive as iPhone 3G. but it comes with a stylus and keypad, and well as able to run a huge selection of applications from third parties.

(to Don: Antony is poor.)

Forgot to mention why Don loathe about AT&T, simple: AT&T partnered with Apple (the number 1 company in Don's loathing list).

You seem to refuse to acknowledge there was a time before the iPhone - a time when I still didn't like AT&T because of their spotty service, back when I was still with them, etc.

Perhaps the AT&T did not offer the best pricing, but the Apple iPhone factor is the main one, we all know that.

Not only were AT&T's rates almost three times more expensive than T-Mobile's, but I had problems finding a signal in several places, and they would often drop calls.
If you don't believe me, see this article.
