I got a new scanner, Bluetooth + laser!

I got a scanner, a barcode scanner to be exact. Presenting Microvision ROV Scanner with Bluetooth. It's a laser barcode scanner that uses Bluetooth for communicating between the scanner and the computer.

(As usual, more photos follow...)

I order the barcode scanner on Saturday, and it arrived on the following Tuesday from the States. It was quick I'd say. And the delivery cost was reasonable.

Delicious Library 2 is cool. Of course, there are many other useful software that I can think of would take the barcode information nicely.

On top of the barcode scanner, I also got the Protective Boot (rubber cover, photoed below), and USB Cable (not photoed).

After playing the scanner for a while, I realised that I have quite a few items I can take a good inventory record of. (Don't worry, Don still has a lot more gadgets than I have.)

Few weeks ago, Don told me that I didn't need a barcode scanner. Instead, just print a few reference tables and I can read the barcode carefully (with some magnification and a ruler). Somehow, I don't think that would be very efficient.

Well, to keep Don entertained, there's a small barcode for Don to decode:

And to make Don's life easier, this barcode uses Code 128 symbology.

(to Don: Antony is poor.)

And to make Antony's life easier, it is a Datamatrix barcode, which his expensive toy can't decode.

Firstly, I forgot to mention that I couldn't afford a 2D laser barcode scanner.
Secondly, I did not give you a barcode that can't be decoded by human. And I even provide a large version to help you decoding.
Thirdly, the message in that barcode is completely false, all three parts.
