too poor to buy drink

For some reason, I am too poor to buy soft drinks from vending machines, instead, I decide to feed the vending machines some soft drink cans. A photo is worth a thousand words, and there's the proof:

Dark skinned Antony recycling on a Envirobank reverse Vending Machine

Okay, that was Envirobank's reverse vending machine installed in MarketPlace Leichhardt. In short, you earn rewards for your recycling. Since I usually drink 1 can of Coca-Cola a day (to Don: Antony is poor, he can't afford drinking 1 litre or more of Coca-Cola a day.), it is a good way to earn rewards points as well as reducing the room in our yellow (recycling) bin.

Unlike a certain extreme environmentalist who would not just use energy saving light bulbs, but extremely low energy LED light bulbs. I simply buy products that is energy efficient, and if possible buy products that is made of low-pollution and highly recyclable material. He surprised me by buying and building 5.2 kg of lead batteries to extend his laptop's battery life to 11 hours. (Somehow, I would be very happy with 7 to 8 hours battery life under wireless environment on laptop, or 10 hours battery life for surfing under Wi-Fi environment which weigh 0.68 kg only.

We all know that lead is considered as a toxic element.

from iTunes Store:
Recently my friend and I made a surprising amount of money back (at least considering only 5c each) by bringing the empty bottles back for redemption.
Why are you still making such a big deal of how I built a lead-acid battery pack? It's much, much cheaper and easier to build one of those than a lithium one.

Well, the recycling is easily linked to environmentalism as well as conservation. Which, your almost no energy usage LED light bulb usage came to my head straight away.
Even open-source extremists' beloved Wikipedia says "There's little argument that lead is extremely toxic." And I was really surprised that you would opted for extra few hours of battery life with the extremely toxic solution (and unacceptable weight).

Of course, what you and those other "environmentalists" fail to consider is that the batteries pose a problem when they are committed to landfills, not when they are in use or being recycled - and most car batteries and similar, due to regulation, are recycled instead of scrapped.
Of course I will flat-out disagree with "unacceptable weight". 5.2kg isn't even all that heavy or an inconvenience, especially considering how long you can be out and on the go with it.

5.2kg was just the additional bulky and heavy batteries. On top of the 2.58kg weight for your superfast 64-bit dual-processor laptop, it somehow does not seem to be portable. Hence, the weight is clearly unacceptable.

I don't find it unacceptable in the least, it's perfectly manageable. Of course, since you are into the whole "it needs to be as thin and lightweight as possible" thing that your beloved Apple and Sony enjoy doing, you would simply refuse to do things the cheap and affordable (if heavier and bulkier) way.
