The PlayStation 3 is not just a gaming device, it is also a great entertainment and communication device. Perhaps not as portable as superfast dual-processor 64-bit laptop, but it hooks up to a nice TV screen providing the entertainment and communication a new different level.
I asked Don on opinions on getting a keyboard for PlayStation 3, he recommended me to get a wired one. Somehow, it is not practically possible. For the simple reason that I sit about 4 metres away from the TV (where PlayStation 3 is). To use a wired keyboard, I would need about one with about 10-metre cable to go around the corner.
Solution: do it wirelessly with Bluetooth. Sony Wireless Keypad for PlayStation 3.
For the past year, I've been using my Bluetooth keyboard from Apple iMac, the old white wireless keyboard from Apple (before the current aluminum model). It works very well I'd say, but the keyboard itself is quite bulky and sort of heavy. Due to the size of it, you can't easily put it away when not in use.
Due to the reasons stated above, I decided to look for a compact version. The Sony Wireless Keypad, is quite small. It can be used directly without hooking up with the controller (of course, you can clip it as photoed below if you need to type quite often). It can be used with other Bluetooth input devices (if keyboard is supported).
Perhaps because I don't use Blackberry, I am not used to small keys. I don't find it very comfy to use, but still, much better than using the controller and select the letters one at a time. However, comparing to the white Apple Wireless Keyboard's weight and bulkiness, I would go for the keypad for short and quick messages.
I've seen people using Apple's new (aluminum) wireless keyboard for PlayStation 3. I might get one of those keyboards one day.
This PlayStation 3 Wireless Keyboard was bought during a special (i.e. discount). (to Don: Antony is poor.)
