Lucky 13 today, and it's Friday

Friday the 13th

Happy Friday the Thirteenth! The last of the three Friday the 13th in 2009. Isn't 2009 a lucky year? The first one was in February, the second one was in March.

Today is Don's first Friday the Thirteenth in reputable Rochester. In case you are not aware, he used to live in beautiful Boston and picturesque Quincy. To best of my knowledge, his dormitory life has been pretty colourful, and I can't wait to hear the Friday 13th surprises from him.

A bit about Friday and the number 13.

In 1453, Byzantine Empire (Christian Eastern Roman) centred in Constantinople to the Turks.
13 people attended the Last Supper, according to the Bible.
As mentioned in the quote above, there are 13 witches in a coven.

As for Fridays... Christian tradition has something to do with it as well, such as the Crucifixion, Eve's offering the apple to Adam in the Garden of Eden, the beginning of the Great Flood, or the confusion at the Tower of Babel.

And there are a number of Black Fridays in history. The famous one includes the Wall Street Crash of 1929 (29th Oct 1929), Fisk-Gould Scandal (1869, a financial panic in the States.)

Stay safe and have a Friday the Thirteenth.

Also, if you missed out Monday night's Desperate Housewives, there's a special encore of the episode at 8.30 tonight on Seven after Better Homes and Gardens.

Thai people love a good ghost story, but this Friday the 13th, I never heard a mention of its significance or any celebration. Didn't see one goul, witch or a skeleton walking the streets of Pattaya!
