PlayTV for Australia on 26th November

Initially, Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) Australia said that PlayTV (for PS3) would be available by the first half of 2009; then SCE Australia said it would be available in October 2009. Yesterday, News.com.au mentioned that PlayTV would be available on 26th November for rrp of $169.95.

Although I am more set on getting an Apple TV, but it does not harm to get a PlayTV for PlayStation 3 first, since I am too cheap to get a TiVo, a very popular device in the States.

PlayTV is a twin-channel digital TV tuner with DVR (digital video recorder) software that allows users to watch and record television programmes to the hard drive of PlayStation 3. Also, similar to Apple's remote controlling in iPod touch and iPhone, the live or recorded TV content can be viewed by PSP (PlayStation Portable) wirelessly (according to Wikipedia).

Sony PlayTV (for PlayStation 3) seems to be a very useful accessory for Sony PlayStation 3.

Sony recently announced a new slim version of PlayStation 3 with a much cheaper price tag and generating much less heat. The new PlayStation 3 Slim will be available on 3 September in Australia.
