vending machine

I am sure Don would have approved this vending machine, except the fading aspect.

a vending machine features Mountain Dews

(as usual, 1 more photo follows...)

Those photos are taken in Singapore last month, and I forgot to post them earlier.

Late last month, I had a short window shopping holiday in Singapore. (Unlike Don, I can't afford going to Europe where everybody wants to go there.)

I believe Don would have approved the pricing of Mountain Dew in this vending machine.

cheap Mountain Dew

So, here Don has it. One Singapore dollar (S$1.00) is about 78 Australian cents, or 70 US cents (0.70 c, USD). Although the can size is the 330 ml size not the usual 375 ml as in Australia, you can't get a can of soft drink for just 80 cents from vending machines in Australia. (to Don: to be fair, we should compare the prices in vending machines, not the bulk purchases from supermarkets.)

Well, too bad, that vending machine does not have Coca-Cola, and I did not buy any from that machine.

The vending machines here are $1.65, so I don't bother with them.

I am sure you can afford $0.70 for a can of Mountain Dew!

Which is not to say that I would.

I recommended you to drink Mountain Dew in cans. $0.70 a can is considered cheap!

That depends on your definition of "cheap". I can get a 12-pack of cans for about $0.42 per can, making the single can relatively expensive.
This, of course, does not factor in volume, in which case $0.70 for a can works out to about $1.97 per liter. Meanwhile a 12-pack works out to $1.17 per liter. Buying a 2-liter bottle is cheaper yet, at $0.85 per liter. Hence buying in bulk is the best option.

You are comparing the supermarket bulk pricing to vending machine pricing? Have you forgot that most cans you buy in bulk are not fridged? While you get the nice cool drink out of the vending machine straight away.
$0.70 a can on vending machine is very cheap, I believe most people would agree with me on that.

I think you are missing all of the figures where I showed you that I would be wasting money with the vending machine.
