my first Carl Zeiss

Presenting my first Carl Zeiss lens:

SAL1680Z

For those who are into photography, they should know what Carl Zeiss is. I finally bought my first Carl Zeiss lens the other day at a very good price.

(as usual, more photos follow...)

Before getting this lens, I've been mainly using Tamron AF 17-50mm F/2.8 Di-II LD Aspherical (IF) lens, which is a nice lens that gives a rather wide aperture (F/2.8) across the 17-50mm range.
Somehow, it was time to get a new lens. And the common rule on photography is to get the best lens you can, so I decided to get a higher end version. After looking a few Carl Zeiss lens (for Sony α mount), I decided to get this 16-80mm range lens. (important message to Don: This is the cheapest Carl Zeiss lens, therefore Antony is poor.)

This Carl Zeiss DT 16-80mm is designed for APS-C DSLR cameras. Although there are many good reasons why a full frame DSLR camera is better, I don't think I am moving to the full frame DSLR camera anytime soon. I am still quite happy with my Sony DSLR α350.

So far, I quite like it. Although I should use it more.

(to Don: Antony is poor.)

(The Sony cyber-shot DSC H9 I bought in 2007 uses Carl Zeiss lens as well, but it is not a separate lens, and it is a point-and-shoot camera. Therefore, I do not count it as my first Carl Zeiss lens.)

Hey Ant,
How much did this lens set you back?
Cheers,
Sam.

Sam,
The key thing is not the exact money I spent, but the fact that it is the cheapest Carl Zeiss lens, and I got a very good deal.
