old fashioned referencing method
Without a doubt that many today's modern edge kids do not buy (many) printed books. They have access to digital books or e-books, and they love the digital/electronic way.
I got myself two O'Reilly reference books few days ago:
It is quite likely that those referencing books would be deemed completely unnecessary by Don, but I can't remember all the syntax or values by heart. Overall, I am old schooled.
(to Don: Antony is poor, he does not have an ebook reader.)

I don't have an e-book reader, all my books are still paper.
Anyway, if I were you, I would have just used one of the free online references for CSS and Regex. I can't remember all the syntax or values for Java and C#; that's what Sun Developer Network and MSDN are for.
