Sony to release PlayTV for PlayStation 3 in Australia by October

Well, not really a 'new' news, but on 23 June, Sony Computer Entertainment Australia announced that its much-anticipated PlayTV will be released in Australia by the end of October. (When PlayTV first available in Europe, Sony initially announced that PlayTV would be available in Australia by the first half of 2009, which it did not come.)

PlayTV is a twin-channel digital TV tuner with DVR (digital video recorder) software that allows users to watch and record television programmes to the hard drive of PlayStation 3. Also, similar to Apple's remote controlling in iPod touch and iPhone, the live or recorded TV content can be viewed by PSP (PlayStation Portable) wirelessly (according to Wikipedia).

Sony PlayTV (for PlayStation 3) seems to be a very useful accessory for Sony PlayStation 3.

Sony recently announced a new slim version of PlayStation 3 with a much cheaper price tag and generating much less heat. The new PlayStation 3 Slim will be available on 3 September in Australia.
