the iPhone 3GS upgrading plan

Michael Jackson's death was certainly the news yesterday. Seven News had almost the entire first news segment covering Michael Jackson's death for 11min 40 seconds; Channel 9's Nine News extended the news to an hour, and the entire first segment was about Jackson that was 18 minutes before the first break. I did not know if Nine news continued on Michael Jackson's story after first segment.

Yesterday's another big news, iPhone 3GS was on sale in Australia. Telstra's pricing plans were announced.

Vodafone sent me an email regarding upgrading to the new iPhone 3GS.
Vodafone Early Upgrade Fee

The special Early Upgrading Fee is a lot cheaper than Early Exit Fee (the contract termination fee) in most cases.

And the fine prints:

^ Early upgrade offer is only available to existing Vodafone customers on consumer or SOHO plans who are re-signing to a current consumer or SOHO Vodafone contract for 24 months with an equal or higher price point than their existing plan. Business plans are not eligible for this early upgrade. Not available to customers who have made an early upgrade in the last 12 months. Not available to customers whose account is overdue or who have missed any payments in the last 3 months. Offer subject to change and does not affect any other obligations of the customer, including, without limitation, MPP.

Without a doubt, there are people who can't live without the latest devices already planning on selling their current iPhone 3G for at least $480, and upgrading to the latest iPhone 3GS.

Forgot to mention on the other day, besides offering Prepaid (and can be unlocked) iPhone 3GS, Vodafone also offer 12-month plans (as well as the regular 24-month plans).
