I hate flies

Well, Sydney is unlike beautiful Boston without any annoying insects. A fly annoyed me today.

Presenting the fly on the straw (to Rev. Dr. Wu Yi, the fly was not on the wall), just a few minutes before its death.
fly on the straw

This evil fly flew onto my head. I (lightly) swatted it, and picked it up with a tissue. A few minutes later the unbelievable thing happened, the presumably dead fly walked away from the tissue, and got up to the straw. I then took the photo above.

Somehow, that fly likes the caffeine from Coca-Cola.

After the photo, I taped it with sticky tape, and squeezed it.

I am pleased to report that this fly has been properly killed, and it is confirmed dead.

(to Don: I drink Coca-Cola from cans with a straw.)

Contrary to what you seem to think, Boston does indeed have insects all over the place - mostly mosquitoes and horseflies. And let's not even talk about the subway rodents.

After your treatment of that fly, I will be more careful not to annoy you from now on!
By the way, that is an excellent picture of the offending fly, extremely detailed with accute sharpness.

Don,
You meant the beautiful Boston is full of beautiful insects such as butterflies and dragonflies.
Wu Yi,
What happened to your priest title? Thank you for the compliment.

I am pretty sure that "butterflies and dragonflies" are not "mosquitoes and horseflies."

Now that I am in Japan I must embrace Zen, hence my new, though honorary title, extended to me by the communities of untied-up chickens of rural Nippon.

Don,
No, they are not, but I believe that you were confused with them.
Zen Master Wu Yi,
To practice Zen, you need a Zen fountain.
Posted by Antony on 6 June 2009 3:58 PM.
Antony, I have a feeling your Zen fountain violates Zen's code against the worship of material possessions.
Posted by Don_HH2K on 6 June 2009 9:24 PM.
Don,
If my understanding about Zen is correct, water is an important element of Zen. Without further ado, Zen fountain is about water.

Driven and lighted by electricity, your "fountain" seems to lack the natural elements of the true Zen understanding of nature and running water.
Posted by Zen Master Wu Yi on 7 June 2009 12:25 PM.
Well, it's the embracing of modern technology, a nice combination of Zen elements and modern technology.
Posted by Antony on 7 June 2009 1:03 PM.
That makes about as much sense as eating a cellphone sandwich for lunch.
Posted by Don_HH2K on 7 June 2009 1:29 PM.
What is a cellphone sandwich?
Do you mean txting or gaming on a mobile phone while eating a sandwich?
Posted by Antony on 7 June 2009 1:57 PM.
No, I mean putting your cellphone in a sandwich and eating it. It makes just as much sense as combining Zen with technology (more specifically, none).
Posted by Don_HH2K on 7 June 2009 2:26 PM.
You might be onto something there DON, a new way of recycling mobile phones!! The McCellphone sandwich!!

BTW, you not only hate flies, but you hate rats also, and seem to be on a singular mission to murder all forms of Rodentia in your immediate sphere of influence.I have not fogotten your cockroach pogrom either.
Posted by Zen Master Wu yi on 7 June 2009 5:42 PM.
Perhaps, I shall mention the rats/mice and cockroaches problems here in Sydney which is not the beautiful Boston.
Posted by Antony on 7 June 2009 10:20 PM.
You've obviously never seen the Boston subway system.
Posted by Don_HH2K on 7 June 2009 11:56 PM.
It is well known that the beautiful cities have some not-so-tidy places. You haven't seen certain shocking rail stations in some Sydney suburbs.
Posted by Antony on 8 June 2009 12:47 AM.
"......shocking rail stations in some Sydney suburbs." Neither have you Ant, as you always put your ever widening butt in the drivers seat when you go any where!! Stop knocking Sydney, as the prevailing national opinion says, "If you don't like things here, go back to where you came from!!"
Posted by Zen Master Wu Yi on 8 June 2009 11:44 AM.
I had to tell Don the reality.
