5 May, 2009Camperdown Memorial Rest ParkOn Sunday afternoon, Laurent and I briefly spent some time in a local park - Camperdown Memorial Rest Park. Not a big park, but I decided to take some photos to show Don what the park in Sydney looks like. Before entering the park, you will be greeted with a sign of no-no. According to the council, you can't do a number of things. Somehow, the sign did not list anything or any activity that is allowed. You can't meet a friend or someone in the park, unless you have a written permission. No meetings, public addresses, performances or organised activities except with Council's written permission. Keep walking in the park, there's a church adjacent to the park. And this is the church wall. Well, I have to apologise for the poor quality of those photos, as they were taken with my iPhone 3G. The benefit of iPhone 3G is that it can record the Location such as following. To save AntBlog701 reader's time, I decided to launch the Google Map for everybody. (to Don: Sydney's park is no where as friendly and beautiful as Boston's.) Posted by Antony on 5 May 2009 11:39 PM

And what makes you so sure that your parks isn't as beautiful as any in Boston?

Boston is a beautiful place. You seem to fail to realise that. Without a doubt, a beautiful city must have beautiful parks all over.
Or perhaps your standard of beautiful is practically unreachable. Posted by Antony on 6 May 2009 1:39 AM.
Sydney is a beautiful place. You seem to fail to realize that, too.
Seeing as you are just making guesses about Boston, I would think that you, actually, have no idea what you are talking about. Posted by Don_HH2K on 6 May 2009 9:56 AM.
LOL @ DON!!!!

Although I haven't been to beautiful Boston, there are many photos of beautiful Boston online.
BTW, it is not that I don't want to visit Boston, but the US Immigration and Customs are not friendly to non-white visitors. Posted by Antony on 6 May 2009 4:20 PM.
Customs wasn't what you would call "friendly" to me either.

One way or the other, they can't refuse you from entering the United States of America.
Posted by Antony on 6 May 2009 11:12 PM.
That doesn't mean that they didn't want to find some excuse not to.

Back to the topic, there are photos showing Boston is very beautiful. And I showed a photo of Sydney park's graffiti in this entry. Isn't that enough comparison?
You just don't know how lucky you are living in beautiful Boston. Posted by Antony on 7 May 2009 2:01 AM.
You showed one photo of a park in Sydney, then compared it to one photographer's idealizations of Boston. Maybe you should e-mail him, and ask what it was like in some of the less fortunate areas.
Posted by Don_HH2K on 7 May 2009 4:44 AM.
Well, I can easily take more photos of ugly parts of parks around Sydney. And carefully selected angles too. Most parts of Sydney can be considered as ‘less fortunate areas’ when compared to Boston.

Seeing as you've never been here, how would you know?
Posted by Don_HH2K on 7 May 2009 10:58 PM.
A picture is worth a thousand words. There are millions of beautiful Boston pictures online, which means there are billions of words about how beautiful Boston is.
Posted by Antony on 7 May 2009 11:33 PM.
There are also millions of beautiful Sydney pictures online. Both, again, are idealizations, so we can't really draw universally acceptable conclusions from them.
Posted by Don_HH2K on 7 May 2009 11:50 PM.
Why not?
There are review guides, and all sorts of information around, enough for us to judge how beautiful Boston really is. Posted by Antony on 8 May 2009 12:18 AM.
Because you shouldn't really make judgments until you've experienced something yourself.

Hear! Hear! @ DON!
* The word "beautiful" has been degraded because of this argument. * Do us all a favour Antony,go to some rich geek gadgety fest in NYC, and travel up to Boston, meet DON, and have a look around together. Then you will have a personal point of comparison. * Until then, STFU about Boston!!! I mean that in the nicest possible way. Posted by Rev.Dr.Wu Yi on 8 May 2009 4:59 PM.
I've been telling Don a number of times that USA does not welcome non-white tourists as they welcome white tourists.
Posted by Antony on 8 May 2009 11:53 PM.
You have no basis what-so-ever to offer that opinion!!!!
Posted by Rev.Dr.Wu Yi on 9 May 2009 2:16 PM.
I know a number of (non-white) friends having trouble applying for a visitor's visa to the USA. It is well known that they treat people differently according to the race.
