I'm a heavy sleeper, but my alarm clock (loud buzzer) usually does wake me up. The problem is that I wake up to it so often that I end up turning it off subconsciously, then going back to sleep.
Lately I've been combating this by putting a piece of duct tape over the off switch.

Don, there's something called "snooze" feature... when you decide to go back to bed for another 10 or so minutes, you need to use "snooze"
I've been using my iPhone as my alarm clock. It works pretty well I'd say.

The problem is that I don't "decide" to go back to bed. I don't even realize I'm shutting the alarm off. I wake up ten minutes later and find that the alarm is already turned off.

In the past, I used to have two alarm clocks, setting them at different times.

Funny thing, I've been waking up at my Sydney time even though I am in a time zone 3 hours behind at the moment. Doesn't mean I get up at 0600 every morning...LOL!
