a day in Royal Botanic Gardens

Finally, I managed to find some time today to visit Royal Botanic Gardens. The main motivation was to take some photos.

Sydney's Royal Botanic Gardens is full of foxes, unfortunately. Here's the photo of flying foxes:
Grey-headed Flying-foxes

I know they look like bats, but they are called Grey-headed Flying-fox (Pteropus poliocephalus). (to Don: I did not make it up, see below.)

(As usual, more photos follow...)

Since our high tech friend has problem believing me, I decided to take this sign as a proof. BTW, all photos are original, (except watermarking and resizing).

The sign

Then, I found this old-fashioned object, I, of course, have to show it our high tech friend. This object works all year round, requires no electricity. However, it only works during day time and when there's sun.

a sundial

Not just that, it requires some manual adjustments. I believe you will also need to apply daylight saving adjustment on top of that.

(to Don: Sydney is not as modern and technically advanced as Boston.)

Here are some more photos as I needed to test my macro lens (Sony 100mm F2.8 Macro Lens, SAL100F28).

A beautiful spider. I don't mind spiders, as long as they don't come to me.

Another spider.

Looks like a dragonfly, and I don't know the exact name:

Whatever it is.

Thanks for looking through my photos.

What about flowers in the Royal Botanic Gardens? I am sure you can find better photos than my flower shots. (Sorry Don, Antony is not into flowers.)

Although I've never been to Boston's botanic gardens (whatever it is called), I am sure the Boston's version is a modern and beautiful one.

I get the idea that Sydney doesn't use sundials as its primary source of timekeeping.
Really nice photos, by the way. I would have guessed those flying foxes were bats - they look almost like larger versions of the fruit bats we have living around here.

Thank you.

1: You made a typo. "Ad"? Don't you mean "as"?
2: Not as technically advanced? I mean with a national Internet blacklist going into effect, I'd assume your as technically advanced.

Thank you for pointing out, Dave. It is well known that Antony does not speak English.

I'll take it as this is what you meant, Don.
