Antony can't afford a slice of watermelon

No, I couldn't afford AU$2.00 for just one slice of watermelon during Italian Festa in late October.

Last Saturday, I bought this watermelon for only 85 cents (AU$) a kilo. (to Don: unlike Italians, Antony is poor) (It was finished in one day.)

That quarter of watermelon costs me AU$2.46. Slightly higher than AU$2.00 but a lot more. The usual price for watermelon in Australia is not this cheap.

Watermelon for 85cents per kilo? When I was a boy, I could get 4-5 full watermelons for the equivalent of 85cents! Used to be 02cents per kilo, or one penny a pound in those days.

It's time to update your value of money. It is 2008, and almost 2009 now!
It is very hard to buy watermelon for under $1.99 per kilo nowadays.

I purposely would not afford a $2.00 slice of watermelon.
Also, I don't know what our price-to-weight ratio for watermelon is here. I'll check the next time I head down to the store.
