28 October, 2008Norton Street Italian Festa 2008
I did not bring my cameras, only managed to take some quick photos with my iPhone 3G (protected in invisibleSHIELD if you must know). Unfortunately, like many other mobile phones, iPhone's built-in camera is not designed to replace digital cameras. I think I shall cut the crap, photos follow... Before showing you the photos, I must point out that food stalls were charging outrageous prices. A slice of watermelon for A$2.00! Two dollars for just one slice!? Italians must be rich. Anyhow, that slice of watermelon was only a quarter cut of the watermelon and about 1.5cm thick (about 0.5 inches in US unit). However, the Aussie dollar has been dropped to 5-year low since the US financial crisis, it might be balanced out. A can of soft drink was A$3.00, and a seafood platter cost A$15.00, and it was quite small actually. Not a good photo I admit. Quite a lot of people there, and it was very hot. This is the power generator. Pretty quiet and uses something called Bio Diesel as the label says. Only wish I could afford one of those. And I kept walking down and into the park (can't remember the name of the park, sorry), there was a Nintendo stall. (Sorry Don, no Microsoft Xbox stalls.) Although it was only a small stall, kids were happy there. Again sorry for the poor quality, I shall really carry the Samsung L730 compact digital camera out with me next time. Bio-Diesel is made from recycled oils, from cooking etc.
My Lebanese/Italian friends went there on Saturday ( might have been Sunday), and quite enjoyed the Forum area off Norton Street. If it was Sunday they did it before we had our usual Sunday lunch at Kingsgrove parent's house. Was it Leichhardt Park you were in? Posted by Rev. Dr. Wu Yi on 28 October 2008 9:42 PM.
I think it's more likely that you were being charged for the convenience of getting a slice of watermelon or a can of soda at the Festa, than that Italians in general are rich and can afford the very high prices.

Don, I did not buy or eat anything there. I know it was a bit unusual of me. Please remember: Antony is poor.
