26 October, 2008

the week it was, 26 October 2008

An Australian backpacker who went missing in Croatia on 18th September. Her body returned to Australia. Two petrol stations competing with each other in Sydney's West, dropping the prices to under A$1 a litre. Here's the weekly The Week It Was. As usual, the clip is available in H.264 format. Why do I prefer H.264 video codec? See this QuickTime codec comparison page and judge yourself.

Australian backpacker Britt Lapthorne's body returned to Australia. Her family were not happy with the police investigation. Two petrol stations competing with each other in Sydney's West, dropping the prices to under A$1 a litre. It lasted for only one day, then the two petrol stations ran out of petrol. The following day, egg farmers joined the campaign by giving away free eggs in a fight to stop big businesses squeezing out independent operators. The Government did not offer help to the petrol stations, instead, those two stations were raid by Federal fuel inspectors. (Excuse: testing the fuel sample. Most likely some unhappy competitors tried to get authorities to stop them from trading.)

Personally I found YouTube's video quality is usually less then direct video download or streaming, I know there are many people prefer YouTube. For those who prefer videos in YouTube format, here's YouTube version:

H.264QuickTime 7The video clip is encoded with state-of-the-art video codec H.264, which delivers stunning quality at remarkably low data rates. QuickTime Player 7 (free) is recommended for watching the video.

Content of the video clip is copyright Seven Network.
