all capsicums are now singular

signs in an Australian green grocer

Remember this photo (posted in this won't be on Engrish.com entry) few months back?

I am very glad to report that I revisited the same vegetable and fruit shop today, and I noticed all the capsicum price signs are now printed in singular form.

Without a doubt, the prices of all sorts of capsicums (green, yellow, orange, and banana etc) have changed, and new signs are required.

To best of my knowledge, it is okay to use either singular or plural form, if plural form exists of course. Without a doubt, it is better to stick in either singular or plural form when possible.
It is worth pointing out that when having the same fruit/food next to each other but one use singular form and one use plural form, what would happen? Usually, no one bothers to point out. However if such mixed usage was used in Asian-owned shops, arrogant native English speakers would put on their English teacher's glasses and examining every single words, and making a big fuss on minor errors.

Again, people in Asia tried very hard to provide signs for English speakers, occasionally, the guy who made the signs do not speak perfect English, or simply do not have enough resource to the English translations verified. The result is something called “Chinglish” where they simply translate word by word without following proper sentence structure and in many cases, not the best choice of words. Arrogant native English speakers at Engrish.com showed absolutely no appreciations to those tried to provide information (in signs) for English speakers.

If you dig down in Engrish.com, you will find a number of photos featured there showed no spelling errors and no grammar mistakes. A few photos are not even English (or any language) related, but all featured there simply they are not English speakers or westerners.

Would Engrish.com make similar fun on non-Asian's less-than-acceptable English? I highly doubt so. Simply they targets Asians, Japanese and Chinese in particular.

Back to the topic, the signs for cucumbers are in plural forms, next to capsicums which are in singular forms. And again, Antony does not speak English. Well done on changing all capsicum signs to singular.
