Some news on the World Youth Day.

Sydney will be full of people, but not the regular people/visitors. Many of the Sydney's business are suffering due to city lock down. No parking, no buses... not many people will go to CBD during WYD.

Other costs of welcoming the Pope (actually, he invited himself to Australia): “There are 630 declared areas under the Annoyance Law regulations,” (said by No To Pope Coalition. Earlier, the New South Wales Government introduced new powers for police to find people for causing annoyance to World Youth Day participants. The court is expect to decide the ruling on if those power is lawful or not.

The world's richest religion is asking 14,000 pilgrims to sleep on hard floors with only a 0.5 cm thick mattress, no heating in Sydney's cold winter.

NSW taxpayers (including non-Catholic taxpayers) are paying millions for World Youth Day. I highly doubt the government would pass similar laws and similar amount of money for a different religion.
