11 July, 2008I got my iPhone 3G!If you have been reading my blog for the last days (or perhaps weeks), you should notice that I've been talking about iPhones and iPhones. I guess none of you should be surprised that I got an iPhone 3G today. (At least I am sure Don should not be surprised at all.) The box shot and the SIM card. There in Australia, we have three mobile carriers (Telstra, Optus and Vodafone) authorised to sell iPhone 3G. I decided to stay with Vodafone. As activation was required in Store, I took those photos in Apple Store. (As usual, more photos follow. Click on the thumbnails for larger photos.) Join the discussion - “I got my iPhone 3G!” at SillyDog701 Message Centre. I tried to get an iPhone 3G from Optus World this morning, but they offer to pre-registered customers who paid $100 in advance first. Somehow I did not get a chance, so I went to queue outside Apple Store (Sydney). They sell iPhone 3G with all three carriers (contracts only). And I decided to stay with Vodafone. Same old mobile number, I was on PrePay plan before. Getting an iPhone 3G requires great patience. The queue was sort of long, and the (mobile carriers') systems were short of slow under such heavy traffic load. It took about 1hr to get the contract ready. The Optus queue was surprisingly long, I'd say about 80+% people in Apple Store Sydney want the contract with Optus, hardly none wants Telstra (in comparison). This is the photo of iPhone 3G contents: Some of you should remember that I bought an iPod touch (32GB, personalised) in early March. Photo of iPod touch vs iPhone 3G. More iPhone 3G vs iPod touch photos. iPhone 3G was still in its plastic wrap, and the iPod touch was with invisibleSHIELD. Photos were taken inside Apple Store Sydney.
I also bought iPhone 3G dock home. I have pre-ordered the InvisibleSHIELD for iPhone 3G. Before the invisibleSHIELD arrives, I have to be very careful with it. Review of iPhone 3G? I am sure you can read it from many other places. Right now, I need to get some lunch first and I am going to with the new iPhone 3G after. (I woke up at 5.01am this morning for the iPhone 3G hopeful queuing.) It was very cold here in Sydney's winter. Even at mid-day, it was cooler than queuing outside Apple Store for the grand opening. (To Don: Antony is poor.) Updated (7.42pm): added more photos and additional information. Wow, congratulations Antony! I'm so envious!

I still maintain that I don't want or need anything more than my $27 Motorola v60.
Congratulations on getting an iPhone, though, since you had the patience to queue up for one. Just one question - what are you going to do with the iPod Touch?
