Optus released iPhone 3G prices

iPhone 3GOptus has released the pricing for iPhone 3G following Telstra's surprise news few days back. Compared to Telstra, Optus is much more clear with the plans.

Anyway, to get an iPhone 3G outright (no contract) with Optus, 8GB iPhone 3G costs AU$729, and 16GB iPhone 3G costs AU$849. That is with Optus' pre-paid plans. On top of that, you will also get $400 bonus + 1GB internet quota (expires within 30 days). You can unlock the iPhone 3G for AU$80 (within first six months), or free after six months.

Optus also offers post-paid iPhone 3G (on contract), prices from $19 per months (for 12 months) with monthly handset installments or you can get a free iPhone 3G with $79/months for 2 years.

It's only about one week left until the official lunch of iPhone 3G in Australia, and Vodafone is the only carrier that has yet released any words on pricing. I am currently with Vodafone, and I would prefer to stay with Vodafone if I can.

More information about Optus' iPhone 3G can be found in this page.

On 30th June, Telstra released the iPhone 3G pricing. Telstra does not offer iPhone 3G without a contract (i.e. prepay). Telstra is now listed on Apple Australia's iPhone - Where to Buy page.

Another outrageous grab by a greedy phone company.
Why is Australia always so expensive when compared to the rest of the planet? This is a rhetorical question incidently.
