TiVo is coming to Australia

Never been a big TiVo fan, to be honest. EPGs are now built into most tuners; my cheap $20 ATSC tuner has one, as does the QAM tuner in the living room that we got way back in 2001.
Then there's how TiVo exerts a good deal of control over their boxes... They can remotely delete programs if asked by broadcasters, log how and when you play back your videos, and so forth.
My solution is to stick a tape in the VCR and hit Record. My VCR doesn't phone home with what it's playing or sprout arms and break the tapes, and I don't need to pay monthly for automatic updates.

I am all over gadgetry! Presently I am in the land of the gadget, Osaka, Japan. I don't want to even know the latest offering. I'm all for the VCR like you Don, if I could work it!!
