Telstra to sell iPhone 3G confirmed, price released
There's an update on Telstra to sell iPhone 3G news update I first mentioned 10 days ago. Yesterday, Telstra has confirmed that they will sell iPhone 3G and has released the price plan.
The cheapest plan for iPhone 3G from Telstra is AU$279 (upfront for 8GB model) on a $30 plan for 24-months. Unlike Optus and Vodafone, which will offer the iPhone outright without a contract, Telstra will only offer the iPhone on 24-month contracts.
The new 8GB iPhone will be available with Telstra for $279 upfront on a two-year contract at $30 per month, or for free on the carrier's $80 per month plan.The 16GB model will be available for $399 on a $30 per month contract or included for free with a $100 per month contract.
You may recall from my earlier blog entry, Telstra was rumoured to sell iPhone 3G 11 days after rival Vodafone and Optus.
Telstra is Australia's largest telecommunications carrier with the largest coverage. The including of Telstra may make Australia the only country with three (3) carriers selling iPhone 3G.
Currently, I am still more inclined to get an iPhone 3G with Vodafone, and hopefully to keep my current mobile number. As for getting an iPhone, I don't think it hurts to switch network. (To Don: I am poor.)
(At time of posting, Apple iPhone Australia's Where to Buy page still indicates only two resellers - Vodafone and Optus.)
