iPhone 3G news update

Well, Thursday's Apple Store Sydney grand opening was a big news. What is the next? iPhone 3G to be released in Australia on 11th July.

I received an email response from Vodafone regarding my pre-registering of iPhone 3G. Basically, it was only a response to let me know that they have my pre-registering. No information on prices or plans as yet.

You may recall from my earlier blog entry, iPhone 3G will be available from Vodafone and Optus. Australia might have a new player to the market. The Australian IT reports that Telstra is going to sell iPhone 3G as well.

The Australian IT says that Telstra will be able to sell iPhone on 22nd July, which is about 11 days behind Vodafone and Optus.

If the Australian IT news is correct, Australia might be the only country to have 3 mobile carriers to sell iPhones. From economical point of view, competition usually brings better products and great deals for consumers.

Currently, I am more inclined to get an iPhone 3G with Vodafone, and hopefully to keep my current mobile number. (To Don: I am poor.)

(At time of posting, Apple iPhone Australia's Where to Buy page still indicates only two resellers - Vodafone and Optus.)
