cheaper to shop on Fridays
Most people in Australia know that petrol (to Don: it is gasoline) is cheaper on Tuesdays. According to a study by The Bailey Group, shopping groceries on Fridays can save up to 20%.
“Friday is when all the specials for the week should be in place; the catalogue specials that started on a Monday, the late-week 'door-buster' specials that started on a Thursday, and the late-week fresh produce and meat specials that begin on a Friday.“The best fresh produce and meat specials begin on a Friday when both Woolies and Coles roll out the bargains in time for barbies and get-togethers.”
However, some big discount items might be out of stock by Friday. And if you are looking for specials such as soft drinks, toilet paper, coffee, and bulk laundry powder etc, get them on Monday.

Gas is cheaper on Tuesdays? News to me, I just keep seeing it shoot up every day.
Admittedly everyone in this country is spoiled when it comes to gasoline. When I was in Dublin, I noticed prices at a few gas stations and did the conversions (liters to gallons and euros to dollars) while on the bus - it came to $6.28US/gal or so. My friend tells me that it costs well over $100US to fill a smallish car in Croatia. And here everyone's complaining that gas is reaching for $4/gal, even though they can't bring themselves to buy anything smaller than a SUV.
I'm interested enough that I'll take a look at food prices per day. They've been going up recently because ethanol production has caused growers to grow more corn than anything else.
