I do not have a 42-inch LCD HDTV

Sharp LC42PD7X

After a day of working in IKEA dealing with annoying kids, I went to Rev. Dr. Wu Yi and John's place yesterday afternoon to help them setting up the new 42-inch LCD TV. Boy, the TV is heavy.

For some unknown reasons, John bought a new TV out of sudden (perhaps against Rev. Dr. Wu Yi's advice). I helped Rev. Dr. Wu Yi and John assembled the TV stand/coffee table and set up the new TV. Assembling TV stand is not that hard, except the TV stand itself is quite heavy.

Last night's very important Desperate Housewives was fantastic, not just because of the excellent episode, but also because I watched it on a huge 42-inch HDTV. The picture was really sharp, and good sound quality. (To Don, 42-inch is huge to me, as I normally watch it on a 24-inch monitor.)

Apple TVPerhaps 42-inch is not thing big to most Americans. But it certainly is to me. If not mistaken, the TV is Sharp 42-inch Aquos full high definition LCT TV, 1080p Display (LC42PD7X).

When Laurent gets a new 40+ inch LCD TV, I will buy an Apple TV for the TV.

I am sure Rev. Dr. Wu Yi enjoys the new TV.

(To Don, I am poor, I don't have a high definition TV. I only watch HD TV shows on my 24-inch iMac, with the help of EyeTV.)

We thank you Antony, for your efforts in assembling the stand and installing the new big TV. Our critics would say we are embracing "mammon", but in the remote village we had a saying, "If you've got it, flaunt it!". Mind you that related to the finest chickens rather than electrical devices!

To me, 42" is huge. I just made some measurements on my desk, and if I were to get an HD widescreen monitor, the maximum diagonal size I can accommodate (assuming the monitor portion of the TV stands at least 5.5" above the base) is a bit over 21". For comparison, the TV I have now is a 19" 480i tube.
So that you know, you can hook an Apple TV up to a 576i tube. The only exception is that if it doesn't have component video inputs, you'll get a greyscale signal (run the video signal cable to component green in this case).

There you go Don, ruining the whole thread with all that "techno-speak".Didn't Antony tell you I am a "techno-dullard"? :)
