I got my a cat 6, finally

I've had quite a few Cat 5 (Category 5 cable) and Cat 5e network cables at home, but I was rearranging my tiny office, and I needed another one.

Originally, I put my Epson colour laser printer (AcuLaser C1100N) in my office which was connected to the D-Link gigabit 802.11n router (DIR-655) with a short Cat 5e network cable.

When I bought the printer, I knew that I needed a network printer, and it really helped. Few days ago, I decided to move the laser printer to the kitchen (which is actually a coffee room) next room. The solution? Instead of using a short ethernet cable, I use a 10m ethernet cable which was connected to iMac originally.

So, I did not have a suitable length ethernet cable between the router (which is the new Time Capsule) and the iMac. I have a few 3-metre ones and one 1-metre cable, but 5-metre is what I need.

Solution? Easy, get a 5-metre ethernet cable.

I wanted to get a white ethernet cable, it turns out harder than I thought. Most of the ethernet cables are blue, some are available in black. Suddenly, I saw Cat 6 (Category 6 cable) in the shop. Hmm, I shall invest one I guess.
Exactly what is the difference between Cat 6 and the popular Cat 5e? Except Cat 6 is certified for gigabit network, I don't know other difference. I bought a 5-metre Cat 6 home. Although Cat 6 is certified for gigabit networking, you can still achieve gigabit networking with Cat 5e cables.

And yes, I have carefully labelled all my cables and cords with the labeller (Brother P-touch 1280).

So here you go, Don, I am poor.

I think the only difference between Cat5(e) and Cat6 is the frequency rating - Cat5 is certified as good to 100MHz while Cat6 is certified as good to 250MHz. If I'm not mistaken all of my Ethernet cables are Cat5, save for one that's Cat3.
