30 March, 2008

the week it was 30 March 2008

The Olympic torch has some trouble in Olympia. Here's the weekly The Week It Was. As usual, the clip is available in the usual H.264 format. Why do I use H.264 format? See this QuickTime codec comparison page and judge yourself.

QuickTime: The Week It Was
(Click the screenshot above to watch the video clip)

The Olympic torch lit up in a traditional ceremony in Olympia and heading to Beijing, but the proceedings did not go to plan. Three human-rights protesters trying to interrupt the speeches. The US death toll has gone past 4,000 while countless number of Iraqi civilians have died (they are not important?)
Not in the clip: (yesterday) Prime Minister Kevin Rudd told US President George W Bush that he's bringing troops home from Iraq. This is very un-Howard.

Here's YouTube version:

H.264QuickTime 7The video clip is encoded with state-of-the-art video codec H.264, which delivers stunning quality at remarkably low data rates. QuickTime Player 7 (free) is recommended for watching the video.

Of course the Chinese Empire is evil, but don't blame the PRC, blame the greed of the Western Nations who will never criticise the Chinese leadership and their woeful human rights record in case they miss out on lucrative business deals for their countries.Shame on the West for being gutless and shame on the PRC for being repressive despots!!
Remember the old remote village saying,"the want of money if the root of all evil!"

Rev Dr Wu Yi, don't jump to the conclusion too quick. You should check out http://www.anti-cnn.com/

The Tibetan people are an entirely different race from the Chinese, regardless of whether the Evil Empire claims their land as part of China.
They(Tibet), should be allowed to determine their own future and not have the PRC try to out-breed the indigenous Tibetans and replace them with masses of ignorant Chinese peasants!!
I can't believe that you have connections with the remote villages of Taiwan and have no compassion for other threatened peoples seeking freedom from the yolk of repression from PRC!!!
