iPod touch hath arrived
There was a bit of drama yesterday about the second package. (The first package was .Mac retail pack. I bought the .Mac together with a Mac to get $40 discount.) The second order was scheduled to arrive in the morning, however, I had to leave the house. Laurent had to attend a meeting for 2 hours, and the delivery came in the wrong time. I got back just after 2pm, and called TNT Express to arrange the redelivery.
(more photos follow)
They said that I can pick them on from their depot or they can redeliver on Wednesday. I chose to pick up the item myself from their depot in Moscot. However, I had to wait until they call me first to make sure the package has arrived back to depot.
Finally, they called me just before the very important Desperate Housewives to let me know that the item is ready for pickup. I don't usually miss out watching Desperate Housewives (with commercials), however, I decided to get the iPod touch earlier and record Desperate Housewives with EyeTV. The problem? I don't usually drive at night and I am not that familiar with the area. Lucky that I managed to get to TNT Express by 9pm with my trusted street directory. (To Don: This is a printed paper book, not a high-tech GPS navigation system)
Sam (samelf) has a video of his unboxing iPod touch on YouTube. I only took photos of ‘unboxing’ iPod touch. It's the new 32 GB model released in early February. Click on following thumbnails for larger photos.
And against popular recommendation, I went ahead and got the Apple engraving. Many people agree that engraving (etching) will reduce the resell value. Somehow, I don't think I will sell the iPod touch anytime soon. It feels special to have something personalised.
The initial syncing of iPod touch does take quite a while. Perhaps, my iTunes library is a bit too big with videos.
Since I don't have a PDA, this iPod touch is likely to serve as my PDA on the road. I ordered the iPod touch together with the MacBook Pro as Apple is offering AU$199 cash back for ordering an iPod together with a Mac. (To Don: I am poor.)
My quick impression on iPod touch: amazing product, amazing technology.
My two-year-old iPod shuffle (1st Gen) can retire now. The email notification I received last night indicates my MacBook Pro has shipped, and should be delivered by 6th March. I will talk more about the MacBook Pro once it arrives.
Here continueth the desperate waiting of my MacBook Pro.
