Happy Australia Day
Today is Australia Day. A barbecue day to most people, and a public holiday on Monday 28th January. Lee Kernaghan, a country singer, is 2008 Australian of the Year. (Sydney Morning Herald)
Speaking of Australian of the Year, last year's Australian of the Year Prof. Tim Flannery is a global warming activist. On the day he received his award, (then) Prime Minister John Howard suddenly lost his smile on stage during Flannery's acceptance speech. Clearly the then government did not censor Flannery's speech unlike they did on Channel Nine's live broadcast of 2007's election debate, due to the worm showing which was not in favour of John Howard. John Howard lost the election to Kevin Rudd last November.
It would be interesting to see if our new Prime Minister Kevin Rudd will have his smile suddenly disappear right after giving award to Lee Kernaghan.
