number talks

Here are some numbers from the 8-day trip to Central West NSW. If you are into numbers.

So here they are:
Total mileage: 1560km (969 miles)
Total spendings on petrol: A$220.26 (to Don: the car does not take gas)
Total costs on accommodation: A$527
On day 1, I took 66 photos; day 2: 65 photos taken; day 3, a huge jump to 250 photos; day 4 down to 128; day 5 record breaking at 265; day 6, another record breaking: 497 photos, all from Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo; day 7 down to 264 photos; day 8: 155 photos.
Total photos taken: 1690 photos taken during the 8-day trip. Those photos take 3.75GB of harddisk/Memory Stick space. That translates to a little more than 1 photo per kilometre.
We ate Eagle Boys Pizza 2 times, found Wendy's outlet in 2 towns, but visited 0 times. I visited Gloria Jean's Coffees 3 times for my morning coffee.

There are small towns with population less than 1000. They have 0 McDonald's, 0 major supermarkets, but surprisingly they have 3 churches. I wonder how those churches competing with each other.

Temperature could go up very high when under the sun, my tiny thermometre I bought in Western Plains Zoo told me 42°C outside, that was 107.6°F in American unit. (To Don: We don't have beautiful snow.)

Further on photos, a 2 GB Memory Stick PRO Duo can hold 904 photos (all in 8MP except a few in 1920x1080), and on day 5 which I took 497 photos in Western Plains Zoo, it required 1 3/4 batteries power. I bought a 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo just before the trip. It was when Sony Central happened to have 20% discount on memory cards, and I took the bargain. It turns out to be extremely useful. (When I bought a 2GB Memory Stick PRO Duo together with my Sony Cyber-shot DSC H9.)

I am still yet to upload photos from the trip. I am deciding a software for managing the gallery. If you have a good suggestion, please let me know. Most likely, the current AntGallery701 which I haven't updated for a while will be replaced by the new one. Stay tuned.
