5.5 hr to fully charge a battery?

Charging a rechargeable battery requires 5.5 hours? Well, it seems to be reasonable if you compare that to regular AA or AAA rechargeables. According to the manual of Energizer Ultra Compact Charger, charging a AA NiMH with 2500mAh capacity would take 8.5 hours. But in the case of charging Lithium Ion battery used in Sony's digital camera, 5.5 hours seems to be a bit too long.

The included charger in Sony's Cyber-shot camera comes with a slow charger (the black one on the photo above), it rated 4.5 hours for practical charging and 5.5 hours for full charging. I certainly do not have 4.5 hours when I travel outside for charging batteries.

Once I got back Sydney, I bought a second Sony rechargeable battery and Sony BC-TRG Traveller Charger (the white one on the photo above). Can't I simply take the included charger out with me? Certainly, but the the Traveller Charger would only take 1.5 hours for practical charging and 2.5 hours for full charging. Time is important.

I am very happy with the Traveller charger, and in fact I use it at home.

If you only take the practical time for consideration, the Traveller Charger only takes one third (1/3) of the time required by the regular charger. Which can be translated to:
money can buy time.
