Profiler, Profiled - Criminal Minds

Criminal Minds

Criminal Minds is on tonight after City Homicide at 9.30pm. yourTV.com.au has a review on tonight's episode.

It's time to give the tired old crime drama another chance - this episode proves there's still plenty of gold to be mined from the genre.

Tonight on Criminal Minds (season 2 episode 12, Profiler, Profiled):

When Morgan returns home to visit his mother, the local authorities arrest him for the murder of three young boys, one murder occurring during his current visit, the other two over the course of 15 years. Accused of being a serial killer, Morgan is relieved when Gideon, Hotchner and the team rush to his side to get to the bottom of the case before he is wrongfully convicted.

Criminal Minds starts at 9.30pm on Channel Seven, after City Homicide.

It's time to give the tired old crime drama another chance - this episode proves there's still plenty of gold to be mined from the genre.

In tonight's episode FBI profiler Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore) is accused of murder after a young boy is found dead in a notoriously bad neighbourhood.

Copious evidence points to Morgan as a suspect, and when his FBI team is called in to investigate they are forced to profile one of their own to prove his innocence. But as they delve into Morgan's history, they learn things he's been keeping to himself all those years. As more and more revelations come to light, even his own team members become suspicious of him.

With no support, Morgan must use his instincts and break through the pain of his own past in order to prove he's innocent and save the lives of future victims.

Though the episode may lack suspense - Morgan is a central character in the show, after all, so there's never any real chance that he's actually guilty - the performances, particularly Moore's, are powerfully convincing.

So many crime shows are repetitive and predictable; it's often as though we're seeing the same storyline performed by different actors. However, this episode of Criminal Minds offers a refreshing take on the crime investigation drama through raw character portrayals and a well-structured, in-depth storyline.

Criminal Minds - Profiler, Profiled airs on the Seven Network on Monday, October 8, at 9.30pm.
