Mary Poppins in Maryborough

Some of my friends might have noticed that I've virtually disappeared from the net for the week. The fact is that I've been away on holidays. I was in Hervey Bay from Monday to Wednesday, and drove down to Maryborough, Queensland yesterday.

So here I am, in Maryborough, a Mary Poppins town. Picture above shows the King, Mary Poppins and I in Mary Poppins Market Day.

P. L. Travers, writer of the world's most popular nanny Mary Poppins, was born in Maryborough in 1899. In the Mary Poppins story, there were a number of things originated from Maryborough, such as the bank (Banks), the one o'clock canon and many others.

There was a 1 pm cannon firing.

Later, Laurent and I took "The Mary" riverboat cruise. A nice tour along the Mary River.

I have a lot of photos from Hervey Bay, since I am not using my own internet, I don't think it will be a good idea to post more photos. Once I get back to Sydney, I might post more photos.
